Had to try the Kindle!

So now I have a Kindle DXG to add to my collection of ereaders. The 9.7" size is wonderful! I am happy with the PDF display and of course all the free/low-price Kindle books and games. Definately better on the eyes than my 9" tablet (glossy). I've just started to use it but so far I am pleased. The eink display is a vast improvement over the Netronix 6" I bought just 6 months ago (which I will try to sell). I'll keep the little jetBook for travelling and for reading Adobe-DRM books.

The only problem is that it is WAY too easy and tempting to buy books on Amazon...I guess they plan it that way.

Congratulations! I'm waiting till early next year to see what the new crop of large screen readers but a KDX is still in the running. I like the Amazon eco-system and still want to be able to sync my books.

I'm glad you are enjoying it! I've been meaning to pick up a larger device, myself.

What? You are not in hell because you are locked into the Amazon store? Isn't that suppose to be awful, pain staking, torture?

The store is one of the best parts of owning a Kindle. It is easy to use and you know that the prices are competitive.

Congrats! KDX is still all around the best choice if you have the budget. The next time you feel tempted, or find yourself about to succumb (or just trapped in an upsell/cross-sell loop they have set up specifically for you based on your weakest character traits), say to yourself: "I'll come back the next day m****rs." Then suspend verbal thinking and hit the close button on your browser.

If you have access to the Adobe DRM (you know the open password), just remove the DRM imo. Plenty of Freeware PDF Unlockers out there that will remove the protection so you can open the PDF on your kindle.

You can also remove other DRMs like protectedPDF as well that uses that irritating overlay and javascripts, providing you know the login/password to access the document, though I've had to use acrobat to remove this annoying DRM.

If you do not have legal access to open/view said documents, you should not remove the DRM. However, I don't see how removing DRM on books that you paid for is wrong by any means. You paid for them, read them on your device of choice.

Yes, I agree that the Kindle store is one of the best features, at least for me. I just like the one-stop convenience of direct-downloads to the Kindle (and the selection/prices). The sync between device is cool also - I can continue reading my book on my PC if I have a break at work, and the new page place is synced when I use the Kindle at home.

The only feature I'd like now is PDF-reflow, but it's not an emergency since landscape mode displays goodsized characters and the large screen holds a reasonable amount of lines. I can also convert the PDF files if I want to.

I am starting to get intrigued by the social highlighting feature. Never seen anything like that before. Will this develop into a global-book-club feature using Twitter or FB?

So far, it is much more versitile than I had expected. I've even WWW browsed a bit and played some games. The 3G network is great - used it from London and around Greece. The daily Amazon "recommendation" emails are a bit of an annoyance....but I'd do the same if I were in Amazon mktg!

Considering that I read so much (fiction) it is well-worth the price. I actually like both the jetBook(5") and Kindle(9.7") about the same, but for different reasons, and between them they meet all my reading/playing needs.

Thanks for the good wishes!
