Newspapers on Kobo?

Is there any way to read newspaper subscriptions on the Kobo?

I'd want to have a copy of the WSJ in the mornings, and am wondering what the options are there.

I think the Amazon store might be the only source. Is there a way to use the store on the Kobo? Or better yet, something native.

Years ago Kobo supported subscriptions to magazines and newspapers through their own store. Unfortunately that support is no longer there.

You might also want to check in the Calibre forum for the Recipes subforum. Basically, how to convert a webpage for reading on your ereader. If you already have calibre installed, check for The Wall Street Journal in the list of recipes in calibre's Fetch News (the red N icon).

If your newspaper has a website with an RSS feed of the articles, you can try the following:

0) Get the RSS Feed URL from your newspaper's/blog's/whatever's website. Many websites support RSS Feed even if they don't tell you. In Firefox, click on the button called "Subscribe to a web page" (You might press the Alt-key, then browse to "bookmarks" to see "subscribe to a web page"). When you have clicked, you are redirected to an ugly page with a violet header. Copy the URL in the URL-bar.

1) Create an account on the website ifttt.com (IF This Then That dot com)

2) Create a new applet on IFTTT : choose "RSS feed" then "New feed item", paste the RSS-Feed URL, then choose add to Pocket, connect to your Pocket account if needed, etc.

3) Connect your Kobo to your Pocket account. Then synchronise your Kobo. This will only add new publications to your Pocket account, not existing ones, so you will have to wait until something is published onto the website of your choice.

Naturally you can repeat that how many times you want for several websites by creating each time a new applet.

KOReader has a "News Reader" plug-in: Retrieves RSS and Atom news entries and saves them as HTML files. It also has a "Send to eBook" plug-in: Receives articles sent with the Send2Ebook PC/Android application.

Luck;
Ken

Will have to try this out, was thinking of installing KO for better PDF support.

Will be nice if this works. I've grown accustomed to syncing against pocket, no more cables and laptop, especially when trying to leave for work in the morning.
