PRS-950 Adobe eBook DRM problem

Borrowed book from library, Adobe eBook. The 950 won't let me read it, says it is DRM'd. But Adobe Digital Editions says it is authorized, 'cause the Reader is listed as a Bookshelf, and I was able to transfer a book to it from the computer using ADE. Computer has been authorized with Adobe ID. (Not absolutely sure if 950 has been, though.) Adobe DE software help says it will recognize when Reader is attached and ask if you want to authorize it, and if you do so, you will then be able to see it as a Bookshelf in ADE. Since it automatically authorized my computer (via a stored Cookie, obviously) I am assuming that it also automatically authorized the (attached) 950. But the 950 apparently doesn't think so. There appears to be no place in ADE to verify that the Reader device has been DRM authorized, except that this may perhaps (simply) be indicated by it being listed as a Bookshelf in ADE.

Go to Menu > Settings > About. If the device is authorized, something along the lines of "Authorized for eBook Store" or "This device is authorized for Adobe DRM" should appear.

I had a similar problem. What I did later to make it work is to transfer the book in Sony Reader Library. Once you authorized and downloaded the book from a public library, you can open Sony Reader Library and import the pdf (in my case, it is My Documents -> Digital Edition -> bookname.pdf). If you then transfer the pdf in Sony Reader Library to the PRS-950, you will be able to read.

jashsu: There is no "Menu > Settings" option in the version of ADE I use - ADE 1.7 for Windows. No place listing authorization information.

charleslou: I (now) see that when I downloaded the book from the library it also placed a copy in the "Purchased" section of the Sony Reader Libarary, in addition to ADE. I deleted the DRM'd (unreadable) copy on the 950 and copied the book to the Reader in Sony Reader. Same problem. Says its DRM'd and I can't read it.

Is anyone else able to borrow a book from a library and read it in the 950?

I think the poster means to use Menu/Settings/About on the 950 as he's trying to get you to check if the 950 is authorised...

The 950 (Options/Settings/About, from main screen) says it's authorized "for reading and purchasing Adobe DRM content" . . . I tried borrowing another DRM'd Adobe ePub book, same problem . . . it says "Protected by DRM" when you try to access the book . . . when you select "Info" from the Options menu, it says the book is an EPUB document, and that its Digital Rights are "Restricted". I can open the book using the Sony Reader Libarary software - including the one on the 950 but I can't open it on the 950.
