What is the sim-card looking gizmo?

This inquiry may be premature as I have not followed the initializing sequence for my new 950.

Still, I'm curious! What is the sim-card looking component protruding from the top of the 950? Will the initializing sequence tell me what to do with this? I imagine it should be gently pushed in to the slot but I'm reluctant to do this so, thus far at least, it is still protruding from the top.

It's a memory slot protector.

And should be gently pushed into the socket... if there's any resistance then it may be in the wrong way round...

E, I assumed it is only for shipping.

Is there any reason to keep using it now? Won't it just stick out and be a problem? (Or if it is pushed all the way in, how can it later be taken out?)

Depends on how much dust you like in your devices... it is designed to occupy the hole when you don't have a memory card in situ. It's like most memory cards... oush in place until it clicks/locks... push in again and it will then release...
