Hello from TN

Hey! I'm Leslie and live in northeast TN. I have a degree in English but am currently a SAHM thinking eventually I would like to get back into the world of editing. I have been married for 14 years and have two kids and two kitties.

As far as reading, I always have three books going - an audio book with my kids (10 yr old daughter, Elizabeth and 9 yr old son, Andrew), an audio book for me while I'm doing housework (makes it so much more enjoyable!

) and a regular old book that I read in the evenings after the kids are in bed. I am in a book club that has opened my life to all genres which I enjoy. Historical fiction is probably my favorite.

I download all my audio books for free from the READs program that is available through my state. Check it out if you have a TN public library card. I will also use their free EPUB and PDF eBooks once I get my reader. I plan on buying a eBook reader within the next couple of weeks after I make my decision. Since I plan on using this site primarily for freebie-goodness of it, I am heavily leaning toward the Nook (classic).

I hope to get to know some of you better as I visit this site!

Hi, I think that I better take a closer look at overdrive.com, my county, Montgomery County is a member of overdrive. For others please look at overdrive.com and look up your county a lot of them are members, mine is but I got to learn to work with the service.

It's been great as far as audio books. You download their software, "check out" what book you want, download it and then transfer it to an MP3 player. It does expire after the 7 or 14 day check out period on your computer but if you have transferred it to your MP3 player then it stays indefinitely. I usually check several out at a time, transfer them over and once I get down to 5 or so I go shopping for more. Great FREE resource! For TN they have a decent selection of newer eBook titles plus I know one of the librarians over the site and can sorta get books I want.

hi leslie! i just joined too after i bought my nook this week. the nook is wonderful so far, and i've sideloaded three library books already. a little bit of a learning curve, but i am currently reading my book club's selection for november on my shiny new device.

good luck with your decision-making. i lurked on this forum for about two months and it REALLY informed my final purchase decision a lot. i was so appreciative to have the forum as a resource.
