New PB 301+ and lockup problems

I got a PB 301+ for Christmas (from pocketbookreader.com), with firmware 15.2 on it. I plugged it in and charged it overnight.

After that, if I locked the keys and left it on my desk overnight, the battery would be dead in the morning every time. It would frequently lock up on boot, requiring a reset by the button on the back.

I upgraded to v15.3. Now when I lock the keys (either manually or by timer) and leave it sit for awhile (30 minutes), it locks up and I have to reset it. Doesn't matter if I'm at the menu or in an app. It still frequently locks up on boot, with the green light saying lit.

If I turn off the timed keylock and turn on the timed shutdown, it usually locks up on boot.

The battery still drains overnight if I don't shut it off.

Is there something wrong with my hardware, is the firmware that buggy, or am I doing something wrong? I haven't made any unusual changes after installed the new firmware and doing a "Format Internal Memory".

Thanks.

I really want to like this device, especially having paid so much for it compared to a Kindle or Kobo (I'm a professional Linux developer, and the potential to hack on it is appealing), but I'm getting pretty frustrated and annoyed that I may have to return it. Especially after being disappointed in finding that FBReader is greatly stripped down and missing some of the features I used on my N810 (not the least of which is its library manager).

get the 14.2 firmware and put that on there. IT doesnt have any of these locking up bugs.

remember though that it will continue to use power with the keys locked. its better to just turn it off

Should it be using a full battery's charge in just a few hours while the keys are locked? My N810 goes for days powered up with the input locked off of a similar battery. The PocketBook should be doing nothing but monitoring for a keypress while idle. Looking at how quickly my battery is draining today, I don't think I could sit and read a whole novel in one sitting off of a single charge... it's certainly not getting "8000 page refreshes on one charge".

If it's really the firmware, and I have to downgrade to a firmware earlier than what came on the device avoid locking up constantly, and it quickly drains the battery while idle, I think I'll just return it. Hopefully someone else has better news. (At this point, I'd take "it's defective, return it for a replacement" as "better news".)

The device shouldn't do that, even with the buggiest version of firmware.

Try downgrading to 14.2. Then disable automatic locking after period of inactivity. If the problems persists, you should definitely contact PocketBook support.
