Importing Text into Sony
I'm buying a PRS-300 and in addition to reading books, I want to import text into it for reading later.
Let's say I copy a whole bunch of unformatted text from a multiple web pages like newspapers and blogs and message forums and I want to import it into the Reader to read later. I assume I do this with Calibre or whatever app Sony provides. How quickly can I perform this process once I get to know it? Thanks in advance. |

Save it in MS Word and then use either Calibre or the Sony Library to add a book just like you would any other book. I have a bunch of crochet and knitting patterns that I do this with. I don't think I'd leave it unformatted because it may have to scroll sideways which would be a problem on the reader.

If you don't care much about formatting or comfortable with plain formatting then create a TXT file, copy it onto a SD card and plug this into your reader. Done.

You can just put the text files in your Calibre library and load them onto your Reader.
If the blogs and newspapers you like aren't already available in Calibre's "Fetch news" feature it might be worth it to make your own recipe. |

Thanks all. I tried txt, rtf and pdf with the Sony Reader Library App. While I like the formatting rtf provides, sometimes I lose content due to special characters I think. PDF - the font sizes available are limited, so txt looks like the way to go.
While the RSS feeds via Calibre and recipes are nice, is there a way to pick and choose articles you want similar to Instapaper on the iPhone? The Instapaper last 20 articles feature doesn't work on the Pocket. Last edited by menevets; 10-23-2010 at 12:11 PM. Reason: z |

I don't know if there's a way to do that. When I want to read an article from a blog on my Reader, I just save it as webpage, filtered and then use calibre to convert it to an epub.
