I suspect this may have been asked before but I cant find it so apologies in advance. I had a basic Kindle for many years. I created lots of collections on it. When I started the kindle up I got a list of collections followed by any books that had not been assigned to a collection (or vice versa depending on how I had left the sort criteria).
Sadly the old kindle died so I recently bought a new Paperwhite 3 that has (I believe) the latest firmware on it. I have since been busily transferring books from my Calibre Library but also am being shown virtually every book I have bought from Amazon. Now I am starting to organise stuff into collections again and find that I can either see a list of my collections BUT no books at all OR a list of my collections followed by a list of ALL my books regardless of whether they are also in a collection! Sorting by ALL or Downloaded seems to make a small reduction to the number of books shown but it is a mix of downloaded and not downloaded rather than anything consistent! Am I doing something really silly or is this just the latest example of Amazon's inability (unwillingness?!) to have a structure that lets you manage your library in the way you want and from PC or device? Sorry for having a bit of rant but I am a 'neat freak' and this lack of order is really frustrating. |

Downloaded, All Items, Sort by Collection gives you Collections, followed by books not in any collection.
But there is no way to manage collections from PC, unless you jailbreak. You have to do it manually on the Kindle. |

thank you for the quick reply. Your suggestion partially works! A fair quantity of books have disappeared but many are still there - even though they are downloaded and in a collection.

You may get better result if the books are not sideloaded all at once. Make it in phases, wait until all books are indexed before going to another phase.
