I really hope I have found the right forum. I am looking for a place to talk about bringing my ebook to market. I have a novel written using indesign to format it. The book has 33 chapters, each an individual idd file.

I have exported all chps to pdf and now I need to make a book with a TOC and some other forward and statement stuff.

The thing is I have about 2 dozen little videos imbedded in the pdfs and lots of full color pictures. Some chps have multiple videos and some have none. The longest video is about a minute and the shortest about 10 seconds.

The videos arn't necessary for moving along the storyline but more of an element to make the book a more compelling read. Also, I just it would be cool to take advantage of the multi-media capabilities of pdf. Plus I am thinking with the tablet universe exploding and that multi-media ebooks will be a fast growning field.

Rich media pdf is fine for the non apple world as apple ipad and iphone won't play flash and the video engine in pdf is flash.

So inorder to market to the apple world one needs to make the videos in a format apple will display. Also, epub being the format for most readers leaves an ebook without the ability to have videos at present.

So when I format in epub I am hoping at the least I can link to a site with the videos there.

Anyway that's my story for now. Anybody else interested in this general area of endeavor?

We have a wonderful writers corner and authors threads here.......check them out sometime.

You have an interesting idea there......and I'm probably one of the very few who wouldn't give it a try.

I want to read, and imagine the story myself......I don't need, nor want, vid clips to help me along. But remember....thats just me.

Todays younger readers could really jump on it.........

Interesting idea, and has applications in many types of books (reference/art/travel) - but I personally prefer to read stories rather than have any video intermissions (but that's my 2 pennyworth). Good luck with your venture

Thanks all. The videos would be an option by having a button to see them. If you don't want to see them you don't have to click on the button. Looking forward being apart of this community.

The video clips are an interesting concept, but I can't say that it appeals to me. I'd rather let the words carry me away...but that's just me :-)
