I had an issue where the reset button didn't work. So I tried sliding and holding the power switch for a few seconds, and at that point it reset/restarted. After that, the screen behaved normally. Usually, sliding and holding the power switch will bring up the option asking if you want to shut down the device, but I think because I had pressed reset, it just reset/restarted without asking.

press the reset hole, pause for about 5 seconds and then slide the power button to reset. It says in the users guide.

I just checked the user guide, and it says press reset, wait for 5 seconds and then slide the power switch to reset. It's been a while since I had to do a reset; I didn't remember sliding the power switch to complete the reset on my old prs-505.

thanks guys have tried all of your suggestions but still no joy so it is back to the store for this one! Rogert wow just as typing this reply and having it plugged into the usb point it has suddenly come to life! Could it have been a battery drain ? as it is now charging so does the reader seize up when battery is spent??

Good to have your company, Roger. With any Sony device (superb machines), my advice when problems arise is NEVER to rely on a USB-PC or USB-laptop charge or to place any weight on the over-optimistic battery meter on the machine itself. Try a full overnight charge from the mains and you may find -- as I did a couple of years ago -- that all your troubles are over. Good luck and best wishes. Neil

I haven't had to reset my 350 yet. But on my 300 and 900 I had to do several resets and they were a pain. I ofter had to hold the reset button in while holding the ON/OFF switch on. sony engineers dropped the ball on the reset for the older models, hopefully they improved it for the newer ones.

Before returning, try using an AC charger from a cellular phone or other device. Most newer chargers for cells work as long as they have the micro-USB connector. If for some reason the battery gets too low, you cannot charge the battery with a PC and USB cable--it requires an AC charger at that point. You also might have trouble trying to charge with a laptop if it is running on battery only. Best to use a desktop if you want to charge via PC, just ensure it isn't it sleep mode.
