DR800 Find Word

I use Find Word quite a lot and it began behaving a bit strangely yesterday. I was searching a DRM-free PDF for a word ("phonological" as it happens). Found a number of occurrences, then searched for "phonetic" and was surprised that it returned no occurrences. The I searched for "phonological" again, and this time it returned no occurrences! So then I searched for "neuron" which I knew was in the book because I was in the index and could see it and it told me the were references to neurons on at least three pages. Then the unit seemed to hang - couldn't do anything and had to restart.

Made some half-hearted attempts to replicate the problem with other files, but haven't been able to - but I had thought previously that a search didn't return any occurrences for words I fully expected to be present in a book or article I was reading.

Has anyone else had problems with Word Find? Anyone know enough about
how the unit handles PDFs to guess what's going on?

Just curious, what was your current position in the book in both those cases? Maybe it's searching from your current position to the end, and the occurrences of "phonological" were before your current location?

If that's what it was, then it might just need a change to make the "find word" automatically wrap to the beginning of the document.

Good point - the last occurrence of "phonological" was in the index and no other words that I searched for occurred between that place (which was probably the last or next to last page), and the end of the book. So your suggestion that it may not be wrapping to the beginning of the document may be right.

I wonder if someone from IREX might comment.

Without checking, I think you're right. The search starts from the beginning of the current page and does not wrap. You'll manually have to go page 1 when you want to start from the beginning of the document.

Thanks for your quick response Gertjan. Is this something that can be "fixed" or is that just how it is?
