Hi, I got a kindle basic 11th edition that cannot boot (tried press power button for 40s already).
I connected it to UART and get below message: Code:

Bah, is the Kindle Paperwhite 11th gen (aka PW5) the only Kindle model without serial connection pads?

@Hightree:
PW5 doesn't have serial connection pads on production version of PW5's motherboard. I opened 2 units and unlike on FCC internal images (from https://fccid.io/2AYXP-6252/Internal...ternal-5369878 ) this area marked in read on the photo below doesn't exist: ![]() My collection of PW5 bricks: ![]() Last edited by shamanNS; 11-27-2023 at 02:34 PM. |

@shamanNS,
Have you seen any kind of physical reset button inside of PW5? I don't know much about this button, just seen it mentioned in a very old thread (smth like a button that can trigger a factory reset or automatic installation of FW?). Last edited by Hightree; 11-29-2023 at 04:09 PM. |

There isn't anything like that. PW5 is a totally locked down black-box. When you end up bricking it your only course of action would be finding someone that can remove the eMMC > write data to it > reattach the eMMC chip.
And you shouldn't be trying to test on a PW5 device all those ideas you've been inquiring about here on various topics. Buy a used PW3, setup Coward's Rescue Pack and then go nuts with testing and perfecting your software mod ideas. And if you haven't already read this: https://kb.taktpraha.cz/projects/kindlepw5 Last edited by shamanNS; 11-29-2023 at 09:13 PM. |
