Good afternoon!! This is, obviously my first time here and first time to this site. I got a new iPad the other day. Along with my apps I like, I'd also like to download some books!! I have a library full of "real" books...about 2800, but now want to build my iPad library.
Some of my favorites are Stephen King; James Patterson; Dean Koontz; Iris Johansen and many more. So I'm really excited about this, but since I'm new, I have no idea what I'm doing!!! ![]() |

Good to have your company, Burgundy. Building your virtual library will be cheaper and faster than building your impressive treebook collection. But it can't be done overnight or free if you're to do it properly. And it's as well to start off with a catalogue system already in mind and ready to apply. Good luck and best wishes. Neil

Welcome, Burgundy.
![]() I don't have an iPad, but you may want to check out our Apple forum and the top two sticky threads at the top of that forum. The second sticky also has information for the iPad. Also, check out the Stanza for iPad out!!! thread. Those are just a few things to check out as you explore our forums. Have fun and just ask, if you want to know anything. |

Wow!! I'm surprised at the response my first post received!! Thanks everyone. My first, and next challenges will be to firgurea way to get my "treebook" collection (thanks for the new word Neilmarr) onto my iPad and how to create a list for my "virtual" books on my iPad!! Any ideas anyone?? Also is this JUST a forum. if not, then WHERE are the books!!?? Unless I'm blind cuz I looked and looked when I was here last and just saw the lists of those that everyone downloaded and who downloaded them.
Thanks for all the great tips!! |

Hya Burgundy. Many of us here swear by the Calibre library software -- simple and darned effective. It's free (but the developer, Kovid Royal, is a member here and some of us volunteer a wee donation if and when we can afford it).
You'll find a whole heap of classics and other public domain books, carefully prepared and freely uploaded by MR members, if you go to the home page. If you want two or three contemporary titles to kick start your collection, visit the book store section of my own publishing site (link below) and just drop me a line of whatever catches your eye. I'll be happy to send the books along in the format of your choice with our compliments. Best wishes. Neil ... ntmarrATbewrite.net (but use the @ sign, of course) |
