Old Magazines why so few available?

I enjoy reading old magazines yet I find so little. Gutenberg has few it seems.
I am wondering where can I get old Vanity Fair, Life and Argosy magazines?
Surely the old ones (pre1930) should be available somewhere? Anyone know
why old magazines don't seem available?

Check Google Books here are Life 1935-1972, Popular Science 1872-2009, Popular Mechanics 1905-2005, and the rest. When on any magazine page click overview and scroll down to see available years for that magazine.
