Help! 300 600 Conflict on the same computer?

I recently bought a 600 and was quite happy with it. I used Calibre to sync books. Everything worked perfectly.

Yesterday I bought a 300 for parents. I synced it with my computer using Calibre as well. Things were still fine.

But today, when I connected 600 to the computer, it was not recognized, though the 600 showed that "USB conntected."

When I connected the 600, I heard the computer "beep" recognizing that something was plugged in. However, the usual "USB device indicator" in the task bar did not show. Window Explorer did not show the usual 2 additional drives either.

At first I thought it was the USB port problem. But it was the same thing with different ports. I tried another USB jump drive, which worked just fine.

I then connected the 300. That was recognized immediately. I was able to use Calibre to sync books with the 300.

I replugged in the 600, nothing happened - not recognized.

I tried to google the problem, but was not successful. (Except I saw something about 300 and 600 sharing the same device ID, can this be the cause?)

Has anyone run into similar problems before? Any help will be apprecited! (The computer is a new HP running Win 7)

Thanks!

Plug in the 600, then hit the start key and type "disk management". Does the 600 show on there somewhere? (Probably in the bottom list) If so, right-click and pick "assign drive letter"

Thanks, Nvidiot.

I tried 600 on another computer. It turned out that it was not recognized there either. That meannt the problem was with the 600.

I tried a 'reset' on 600. Somehow it fixed the problem, so far. I tried both 300 and 600 on the original computer. It seemed to be working right now. No slightest idea what happened and how it was fixed. But very happy it is working now.

Thank you for your help!
