Noob - Got one. Diggin' it

I've been lurking here a while. Did the research and concluded the Sony had the best near-book experience for me. Then I groaned at each dollar shelled out over the holiday season, bemoaning the loss of a budget for a reader. Then on christmas eve I got a windfall that put it back in the budget. I ran out and got a 600 and sony cover with light that night before I spent the money on something foolish like food, shelter or clothing. Over the holiday I enjoyed a couple of Gutenberg classics that always please me. The day after, I got myself signed up at the library. 5 minutes after that trip I was downloading a couple of must-reads from them and building a rather massive wish-list.

I had been worried that this would become yet another gee-whiz doodad that would soon join its brethren in the "drawer of misfit toys" but thus far it has proved to be the best device I have purchased in some time. as if it were designed for my voracious and attention-deficit reading habits.

And the wife is pleased as well. The untidy stack of books being read has vanished from the nightstand. The nightstand light is no longer a bone of marital contention.

My only complaints thus far are solely that formatting and converting, even with Calibre is frustrating. Yeah, I know. there is a forum for that. I'll be there. Oh we'll leave the complaints plural and add that, in my opinion as a software tester, the Sony software is some of the worst I have ever encountered.

Anyhow, just dropping in to say howdy.

Glad to hear you love your new Sony, and I'll second DGma with the awesome ebooks available here. I've had my Sony 505 for a year and a half now and it just never gets old.

Thanks folks.

I had resigned myself to trolling craigslist for a 505 for some weeks before things fell into place for me. I was kicking myself for passing on a seldom used 100 dollar 505 just a week beforehand.
