I miss G1 every bit as much as the next person, and I'm thoroughly as confused as to why we have to switch, but I've been using G2 for the last couple of years (already?) and like it or not it's the standard going forward.
Sometimes we have to accept the things we cannot change. POL9A P.S. Yes, the hack is a way of changing it, but that's not acceptance of the fundamental reasoning behind the switch to G2. Perhaps there will come a time when the G1 hack doesn't work, what then? POL |

Palmsource is in litigation with Xerox over the original Graffitti, that's the reason why G1 was nixed in favor of G2. It's not that G2 is superior or something.

About G1 not working, that's what happened with Palm OS 5.4 (t5, Treo 650)...but somehow someone was able to re-enable it. It's nice to have a choice. To each his own, perhaps. For me, G1 rules. Multiple strokes for punctations in G2 is what annoyed me no end. Not to mention 'K' , 'i' , and 't' which G2 often misinterpret... |

But now on my Pocket PC I'm pretty happy with Fitaly, which is probably also going to be available on most future Palm models, so if I can't use G1 it's not too bad. |

On a Pocket Pc, Transcriber accepts G1 strokes, Microsoft licensed it from Xerox (maybe to lend some legitimacy to Xerox's claim, in the same way, Microsoft paid SCO for its Unix. AFAIK, the case is on appeal, with PalmOne winning the last round (Apr 2004).

Xerox is appealing the ruling, and in any case, G2 is easier for noobs to pick up. PalmOne will not offer it again, but it's nice that Igor provided a solution for us old timers.

Hey,
Tealscript was my choice before I learned how to implement the original G1 on my zire71. I hate the two stroke crap of G2. |

I stopped using hand recognition software because of the unpretty scratches I had on the screen after a while. I am not using any screen protector because I like those even less. So Fitaly is my best friend now and I think I can beat you all in speed
