SJphone - Loox 720 built-in VoIP software released

Earlier on Mobileread reported that the built-in VoIP receiver of the Pocket Loox 720 can be activated only with a software development kit that is access restricted to selected developers. SJ Labs' SJphone now finally supports this feature in the latest Build 1.50.274; in other words, Loox owners don't require a headset for VoIP anymore. Click here for the download.

SJphone® is a VOIP softphone that allows you to speak with any other softphone running on PC/ PDA, any stand-alone IP-phone or using VOIP service provider with any traditional wired or mobile phone. It supports both SIP and H.323 standards and is fully inter-operable with most major VOIP vendors and Service Providers.

X-PRO users havent needed a headset for a while now. They have active echo cancellation.

My first impressions are good- only the top speaker in the LOOX worked, and it was easy to hold a conversation between someone at my PC, and me wandering around the house, with my LOOX to my ear. I did only try it inside the house network, calling from one network address to another on the same LAN, but, as it was quality of sound I was most interested in, I have to say that I was impressed.
