Change the file extensions that Calibre thinks are books
In particular I would like to have calibre ignore *.md files when adding books from a directory. I looked through the options and only found extension controls under automatic loading from a directory.
I could probably do a code change but I'm hoping there is an easy through the GUI/CLI way of adjusting the list of extensions. Thanks... |

Does Preferences > Interface > Behavior > "Use Internal Viewer For" do what you're looking for?

No, the MD type has never been checked and it still adds a 'book' type for *.MD files.

If you use the Autoadd feature you can tell it which file extensions (types, formats) to ignore:
If you're not using that feature it's up to to which files you select when you add items to a library. I use the Windows Send To feature to add items to my calibre libraries. That means I make an explicit decision at the time I initiate the SendTo (add) from my File Manager. BR |

I use a designated folder to which I move all the files I want to add to calibre and then add them in bulk.

I'm trying to pull the books out of the "My Kindle Content" directory. I don't want to move the *.azw files out since I don't know if the DeDRM requires the MD file. And it's another step. It seems like there should be some way of setting what file extensions calibre should consider to be books.

For me, I just added a rule under Preferences => Adding books => Adding actions => Control which files are added during bulk imports which specifically disallows .md files.
