Estimating vacuuming database ETA
Why isn't Calibre able to give an estimation (non-"spinning" progress bar) of the time it will take to finish "Vacuuming [the full-text] database to improve performance"?
Does calibredb have a way of checking the status of on ongoing vacuuming? Or is there another way I can estimate how long it will take? It took about 12 min. to vacuum a 15G database. Last edited by Geremia; 09-22-2025 at 12:16 AM. |

Out of curiosity, what are specs of the computer on which you are vacuuming a 15GB database? On my computer, from clicking Library Maintenance => Check library => Check files takes about 3 minutes with a 17GB full text search database (the metadata.db and calnotes.db file size are pretty much a rounding error in the full-text-search.db file size).

I've never done it before. Running now with 9000+ ebooks and about 14.7G size FTS database.
OS is Linux Mint on 0.5T SSD. A Dell 7050 "lunch box" computer with 8 cores. All of /var (web servers?) and /home (users files) are on a 6T SATA HDD. Start 16:38 Peak usage about 21% on a random core. HDD light on solid. End 17:43 |
