Calibre Wireless Transfer to KOReader stopped working

A week or so ago, I was able to use Calibre's (ver 7.20) wireless transfer system to move several books to my Kindle (Paperwhite, 11th gen). Two days ago, I tried again and it's not working.

I'm following the instructions here: https://github.com/koreader/koreader/wiki/calibre

I start Calibre's wireless device system, button turns green, and it reports the IP address.

On KO reader, I needed to specify the IP address and after doing so, I can connect to Calibre: KO tells me that it's connected and reports the correct IP address.

Calibre does not generate the message that it has detected the KOreader (as the instructions say it should). When I highlight a book and right click, then select "send to device" none of the options are highlighted. (The top one - send to main memory -- should be.)

Suggestions about what could be going on?

Assuming you are using Windows, my only suggestion is to try it in safe mode to see if your antivirus is blocking some of the messages.

Other than that, I suggest you ask in the koreader forum.

I'm not on windows. I use a Ubuntu machine (24.04). I'll head to KOreader!

Note: there is no calibre support for distro-provided packages, only the "official" releases found here. Why? Our experience is that distro packages are often buggy.

Your suggestion helped me get it working! I disabled Ubuntu's "uncomplicated firewall" and the wireless transfer is okie-dokey!
