Long time Kindle user here. I’ve been telling myself for years that when my Oasis dies I’m switching to Kobo. I hear that they may not work, and that Kobo may block users located in China. I have no problem side loading but I would like to continue using Libby etc.
I really want to buy a Libra Coulor. Could anyone tell me more about the restrictions in place as well as possible work arounds? Thanks so much! |

I have a Kobo Nia and live in Shanghai. I sideload my books so don't use the Kobo store but I can say the OS update server is blocked so I suspect the store is too. The solution is a VPN / Proxy that is on a device your Kobo connects to. At least in China lots of very cheap and cool little WiFi routers like the Cudy AX3000 will provide VPN to a device like a Kobo.
