Major problems converting TXT to EPUB
Hi there,
working with the newest version of calibre, I encounter the following problem:
I have abt. 10 text files imported to calibre. Next step would be to convert them to EPUB. Unfortunately I get with each the the following conversion error:
re.error: bad escape \u at position 14


I tried it with UTF-8, I even converted them to markdown files and imported those. Everytime I get this bloody error. Unfortunately the files are quite long, so it would be a hazzle to inspect them letter by letter.

Anybody out there able to help me?

Yes, it's a bug in the newest version. The fix has already been implemented and will be in the next version. If you cannot wait, you could go back to the previous version until then.

Was about to post about 7.25 chewing for 10 minutes on a conversion of a single (and rather simple, by my estimation) HTML file to EPUB. Went back to 7.13 and . . . same thing; I gave up on the conversion after 30 minutes (!) of grinding.

Good to see that the issue is spotted and a fix is forthcoming.

Copy paste into wp (MS or LO, not Google) and fix content styles. Only re-edit odt if LO Writer. A Save As in docx.
Do NOT use Heuristics.

Sorry but that's likely to be a different issue since the issue in this thread showed up in 7.25 so if you are seeing an issue in 7.13 with the same file, it's unlikely to be the same issue.

If the HTML file is not copyrighted, etc., you could attach it to a message so others can take a look at it.

calibre conversion starts acting wired since 7.25, either very quick without content in the resulted epub in 7.25, or very slow in the progressing pdf in 7.26
