Our Kobo libra H2O shows read books as unread.
I downloaded a few books via Calibre. I placed them on my Kobo according to the Kobo instructions. This all went well.
Unfortunately, all read books, except for 2, are now marked as unread. ![]() The read books are no longer on the Kobo. I can still see the covers. Does anyone have an idea why this happened? Can this be fixed? Yes, I can go through all the books one by one, but that can't be the intention, can it? There are many problem solutions on the Kobo site, but I can't find this one. Not on other sites either. This site is supposed to be leading, so I'll try the question here first. Regards Rob |

Welcome to Mobileread
![]() I'm not sure what you mean by you transferred the ebooks according to kobo instructions ![]() I can however introduce you to Calibre, which is an ebook manager that is enormously popular and well managed by people who contribute to mobileread. Here is the link: https://calibre-ebook.com/ I use calibre to side load my ebooks to my various kobo devices and have done so for well over a decade. |

Thanks for your answer.
If needed, here the instructions I used: Putting the ePub on your Kobo eReader 1 Plug the USB cable into the Kobo and plug the end that you normally put into the adapter into your computer; 2 On your Kobo, press ‘Connect’; 3 Your Windows computer will then give you a message that a device is connected. From the message, go to the corresponding Kobo folder. You can also go to the Kobo device that has now appeared via Windows Explorer, which can be found in the left bar under ‘KOBOeReader’; 4 Open the folder containing the ePub books that you want to transfer. Drag these files to the KOBOeReader folder; 5 Once the ebooks have been transferred, right-click on the Kobo in the left bar of the Explorer window and click ‘Eject’. Now wait for a message that says that the Kobo can be safely removed. This prevents files from becoming corrupt; 6 Remove the cable from your computer and from your Kobo. Enjoy reading the transferred ePub(s)! I would say, simple instructions. Calibre is on my laptop. I'm just not (yet) familiar with that programm. The new transfered books are not DRM protected. The orthers probably are, because I bought/hired them. Last edited by eLezer; 01-04-2025 at 06:47 AM. |

mmm ... okay, I'm trying to figure out if you've got the kepub versions of your ebooks on your device, which may or may not be relevant.
![]() In the device settings, Manage downloads, last option: "Once you've marked a Kobo book as finished, remove the download from your ereader to free up space" .... isn't ticked is it? (btw, the time difference in my reply is because I live in Sydney, Aus) |

One potential issue is that you are copying the files to the root of the exposed storage. A FAT32 volume has a limited number of directory entries in the root and long file names will ensure that those entries are chewed up with enthusiasm.
I would recommend creating a directory (eBooks for instance) and then copying the books into that directory. |
