'My Books' shows strange PNG files as books

I now have a Kobo Clara 2e. I borrow ebooks from two libraries, and buy from play.google.com

Just recently I've noticed that when I tap the 'My Books' icon, I'm presented with this list (ebooks sorted by Recent, the PNG files sorted alphabetically):

Complete Works of Elizabeth von Arnim EPUB
Arrow-right@2x Unknown Author PNG
Arrow-left@2x Unknown Author PNG
Arrow-down Unknown Author PNG
I Had a Father in Karratha EPUB
The Wild Girl EPUB

If I go to the 'Authors' tab, I see '216 books' under 'Unknown Author'. I started manually deleting one-by-one before I realised how many there were.

Can anyone advise me on how to remove these PNG files all-at-once WITHOUT destroying the functioning of the ereader? Such help will be greatly appreciated.

Did you load any third party apps or mods into the .kobo directory? If you do, then you need to modify the Kobo config to ignore the new files.

Thank you, Frogm4n. I wouldn't know how to "load any third party apps or mods" or even what they are. Your link mentioned a Factory Reset which is probably within my capabilities. I will now try to find how.

It happens the same to me recently, it is a corruption in the database, only solution i found was to hard reset may device and send the books back from calibre (in case you have a copy in there...)
