Error importing files
So, Amazon caught me, and I've spent some time on the workaround for download & transfer. I purchased a Paperwhite 2 and registered it with Amazon. Amazon then allowed me to download and tranfer for 4 new books that I had bought. I put them into a folder, then tried to use Calibre to import them (and hopefully use my normal conversion process to make them readable on my Kobo). What I got for all 4 books was an error message and a failed import. The message is below. I have never used D&T OR a Kindle, so I don't know if this is user error or what. The books downloaded with AZW3 extensions... The Kindle firmware is version 5.12.2.2.
calibre, version 6.13.0. I did try transferring one of the books to the Kindle, but that didn't work either so I expect this is something I've done wrong. Add the deDRM plugin from NoDRM on Git.
Go to your devices page on Amazon and copy the serial ID of your Paperwhite 2. Paste that into the settings page of the plugin you installed to Calibre. Then add the ebooks either in Calibre or in a File manager with right click and "Open with Calibre". Always Download ebooks from the Amazon Books / Content page, nnever from the Paperwhite. The paperwhite can now be forgotten unless you want to read on it. |

Thank you, Quoth! That worked - it was the serial number that was missing.
