Trouble mounting Kobo Clara HD Windows 11
In recent months my Windows 11 machine only sporadically recognizes my Kobo Clara HD. One some USB ports, the reader mounts and is visible as a drive but fails to mount in Calibre. On other ports I get a message saying something like "Device couldn't be recognized".
When I restart, the devices usually mount again, but almost everytime I want to connect them, I have to restart before. Does anyone else have these issues? They seem new, previously, the reader always mounted, even on USB hubs. |

I’ve never had any problem mounting my Clara, but I don’t use Windows. I’ve heard from others that the Kobo is very sensitive to cable variations — have you tried different cables?
I’d also inspect the port for lint or other dirt, clean it out with a wooden toothpick (not metal!) if there’s anything in the port. |

Thank you, yes I tried several cables, no difference. The ports are clean, otherwise, the device wouldn't mount after restart. I'm just wondering if there might be some Windows 11 updates that caused this or if there is a service I can restart to mediate the issue. Windows 11 is up to date, on Calibre portable 6.12 (latest version).

Have you tried other USB ports? If your computer has USB-C, you could get a USB-C to microUSB cable and try that. |

Many thanks for your tests and replies!
It probably has something to do with my setup then... I just looked and the USB port had an exclamation mark. Disabling the port and enabling it fixes the issue. Very odd that this keeps reappearing. |
