Calibre sharing over the net not loading on Kobo ereader

So I started the Calibre sharing over the net server, and tried to access it using the webbrowser on my Kobo reader, but it wont load.
HTTP://ipadress:8080, I click "Go" but nothing happens,
How to solve this?
The test server option in Calibre works with no problem.

I can only it works here. What the problem is depends on what you actually see. The most likely thing is that the device cannot reach calibre. Whether that is a firewall on the computer running calibre or a firewall between them, I don't know.

Things to check:

Use http://ipadress:8080/mobile instead of your current URL. The one you are using is to a page that will not work with the Kobo browser. The mobile page will. But, that is probably not the problem. With the URL you are using as you should see a loading page with a message about using the non-Javascript version and a link to that. And I would hope that you would have mentioned this if it was happening.

Is this all on a local network? If so, can you access the server from another computer on the network? If not, that suggests there is a firewall on the computer running calibre blocking external access. If it does work, check your router to see if it isolates WiFi connections from each other or the wired part of the network.

If the ereader is not on the same network, you need to make sure routing and firewalls will let the device connect.

Look at the logs in calibre. If the ereader is connecting, but something is going wrong, there might be some indication of what was happening there.

Those are the obvious things. If the problem isn't one of them, then we need more information.

I don't see anything happening at all, also not the javascript page,
In fact, it just stays on the default homepage(google),
Like literally nothing seems to happen when I push "go",
If I type a normal URL(Facebook.com) It loads that no problem and fast.
It seems like no type of IP type of address is working..

All my connections are wireless and on the same network, I even tried turning off all firewalls and it still didn't work,
Tried a couple of other devices(Phone, tablet) and they can all reach the server without a problem.

I have a Kobo Aura Edition 2 running 4.28.18220,
Windows running Calibre 5.26.0

Actually, I just tried and it worked,
Then I rebooted and now it doesn't work again.

I can access it using different devices, And even with firewall off I cant seem to connect to it using my Kobo Auto Edition 2.

Nothing shows up in the Calibre logs either.

So do you know what's wrong?

Have you enabled security? If so, the browser does not prompt for the username and password. You need to put them in the URL:

http://usernameassword@nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/mobile

But, I was reminded of the need for the username/password after looking at the log files for this as it wasn't working when I just entered the ip address.

The browser doesn't update the to show anything if there is no response from the server. It isn't a great browser. But, if you are not seeing anything in the calibre server logs, then the browser isn't seeing the server. Can you ping the address of the device from the machine running calibre?

I don't have security enabled.
And I can ping and access the server on my laptop running calibre.

Can you ping the device from the server? Or enable telnet and ping the server from the device. Though to do that, you will need to be able to reach the device from somewhere on the network.

It looks like the device cannot reach the server. Whether that is routing or a firewall somewhere, I don't know. The only other thing I can think of to try is to setup calibre server on another machine and see if you can access it. You don't need many books, just a few and the server configured.

I just tested this using my ClaraHD, I was able to reach the calibre server--with authentication turned on--using
Code:
http://username:password@ipaddress:portnumber/mobile
from both my internal network and external internet. For the external test used my phone as a hotspot.
