Dark mode on Libra H2O
Any way to get the Elepsis dark mode on other Kobos? I know it's"Elepsis only" according to Kobo but was hoping it could be added with a patch? I can invert the screen but that makes any pictures/covers look wonky.

This thread gathers together all the relevant information from a variety of other places, including the threads John F mentioned, but is devoted to this specific topic of getting dark mode on all modern Kobo E Ink devices:

Invert Screen doesn't work anymore. Dark Mode is used instead. |

I can also say that while nickelmenu couldn’t toggle invert on/off that my Forma retained the invert setting when I updated to the last Elipsa only firmware (I believe it ended in 15 I just can’t check ATM) this way before I updated to a nickelmenu that geek added support for dark mode to so it’s possible he also fixed the invert support. I didn’t check because I prefer the dark mode option over the invert option. |

Except invert screen settings do seem to be retained. As I mentioned in my above post I’m just not sure if it’s still has a toggle that’s accessible in any way.

The Invert Screen settings are still there. The option is still on the Developers options screen, but, it doesn't take immediate affect. It seems to take affect when the device is restarted. I have no idea what happens when both the Dark Mode and Invert Screen are enabled. |

Using Nickel Menu gives you a way to toggle Dark Mode on and off from the Kobo device. If you permanently want Dark Mode, then setting it in the on-device file "Kobo eReader.conf" will work, but you'll have no way to toggle it without editing that file again.
The big advantage of Dark Mode of Invert Screen is that the former does not invert pictures; they are always shown in normal mode. |

All mentions of Dark Mode seemed to also mention Nickle Menu, so I thought maybe it was a feature of Nickle Menu rather than something Kobo themselves was rolling out. I don't use Nickle Menu, so am unfamiliar with what it does and does not do.

I could be wrong on this but from all the config for it I’ve seen this is the case. |
