Can We Have Multiple Calibre Installs?

I just read a 2011 post saying he had more than 10 instances of Calibre installed on his machine.

Can we do that? Can we install multiple instances of Calibre on one machine? On one drive?

I have Calibre v 5 + and the DRM doesn't work so I'm going to have to use v 4.2 I guess.

And Calibre on my Win10 doesn't seem to have an uninstall option.

So I guess it'd be nice and easy for me to simply install the new version and leave the old one there if that's a satisfactory working arrangement.

Is it, would it be?

DeDRM 7.1.0 does work with Calibre 5.x. So if you are not using that version, go get it and install it.

If you want multiple calibre installs, use calibre portable (for windows) alongside your existing calibre install. Each copy of calibre portable is self contained to a directory (or usb stick).

Remember though you can only run one instance of calibre at a time.

Thanks guys. You've got to stay awake, eh? I read an out of date post somewhere and thought that was the state of play today.

So still got a problem though.

I went and got 7.1.0 and tried to install it and got an error "does not contain a top_level_init_py" or something similar. Attached screenshot.

hmm. in preview that didn't work.

I'll try linking to it:

Belay that. I misunderstand and unzipped nothing. I just now tried unzipping the first 'outer' zip file and installing the 'inner' zip file. It worked fine.

Sorry for the needless enquiry.
