Very slow to startup
I am running Calibre on an iMac running Mojave with 24gB of ram.
Calibre takes anywhere from between 3 and 5 minutes to start up. Once it has started all is fine. Is this normal I don't remember it taking so long to load in the past? |

Depends on the number of books. For a few thousad books it normally takes under 2 seconds to start.

You should do a Check Library to compress the database and remove unused entries in the database. That can speed things up.

@Valkrider - IIRC: custom columns that use file system related template functions such as formats_modtimes, formats_paths, formats_sizes etc can slow things down.
Also try running calibre with the --ignore-plugins option, see Command Line Interface BR |

My thanks to @JSWolf I ran that check and I had loads of unknown file types in the library and so removed them all (with the Calibre option) now Calibre starts in a few seconds instead of a few minutes.
