Hello here,
It's been few weeks since I receive my Kobo Libra. I've been mainly using Kindle for the past 6 years. I think I like this Libra but lot of things seem unfinished or lacking polish. Wanted to check with you if I could do something about some of my issues, related to the performance of the device. I've encountered many lags and freezes in the Kobo / Overdrive search, some touch seem to not be registered... Sometimes in the Kobo Store, it freezes really bad and the entire device becomes unresponsive for at least 10/15 seconds. Buttons don't always click or register when I want to change page. And sometimes, it can take up to 3 second until it changes the page, while most of the time it's not an issue. (I've encountered this with an Overdrive book) Should I just focus on converting my books in kepub, in order to have the best performance possible ? (I think I've read somewhere in this forum that Kobo handled them faster than regular Epub) Are there optimisations I can do, or even hacks to make it perform better? I've updated to the last one, 4.26.16704 as soon as I got the device.
I did perform a factory reset since then and decided to not reinstall Koreader / Plato, to see if this would get better. |

I'd contact Kobo, assuming you aren't over stating the delays and you are indeed on that firmware you shouldn't have these issues.

I've noticed some very long page turns in the latest firmware build. To the point that I tap again and end up suddenly two pages ahead. This is with Kepub files. I was going to just wait for the next update (they are pretty frequent) before bringing it up.

Are these delays on official kepubs (ie from the store) or side-loaded via calibre or geek1011's tool?

Have you tried reading ePub?

I'm assuming the books from the library are downloaded in ePub, but maybe it's not the case. I'll try with a sideloaded book in ePub.

If you borrow a book from TPL or any overdrive library, the version that you get synced by wifi by the Kobo is a kepub version from the Kobo store.
The epub version is obtained by downloading the ACSM file from the library and having ADE process the ACSM to download the epub to your PC. |

Okay, thank you. So I've only tried with kepub then. Two converted from Epub and the ones from the library, via Overdrive.
