Font problem converting from EPUB to PDF
Using Windows 10. When converting from EPUB to PDF, I often like to change the font, and that's been working without problems. However, I started converting using a font I've come to like for reading, called GLYPHA LT PRO LIGHT. The conversions are successful, but when I use the highlighter in PDF Expert (iOS), the highlight is offset below the text. If I open the same file in Acrobat and go into edit mode, I end up with an edit box around each individual letter rather than around the whole page of text. Each edit box is also offset below each letter (same behaviour as the highlighting).
These issues haven't happened with other fonts, so it seems peculiar to this font. I had been using a couple of font look-alikes, so I thought maybe they were 'bad fonts', so I even purchased the original GLYPHA LT PRO LIGHT font, and the problem persists. I would love to use this font by default, but the highlighting issue takes away from the joy. Any ideas? Thanks |

Most likely this font will have CFF outlines, and chromium which does the PDF rendering in calibre will be enbedding it as Type 3 outlines in the PDF instead of an actual font. Most likely, your highlighting software doesnt like that.

Cheers EDIT: I should add that if I use this font in Word and save out as a PDF, it's just fine. So it must be specific to Chromium. :-( Last edited by Docno; 06-15-2021 at 06:11 AM. |

Yeah there's not really anything calibre can do here, just hope it gets fixed in chromium.

Just an update for anyone who might read this is in the future. Kovid was indeed right. I managed to exchange the OTF version of the font for a TTF version, and that solved the problem. Lesson learned. And thanks again to Kovid for his responsiveness.
