Please help me with my choice!

Hello there, my good people!

I already have a very nice Android tablet I use for reading color comics. Although it's very nice for that purpose, the eye strain is real with the backlight. I tried reading e-books and manga on it, but the eye strain for me is even worse, because of the predominant white color on both cases.

Because of that, I'm looking for a 7.8" or 8" e-reader. My tablet has a 10.5" screen and, at least for me, it's too big for most manga. That's why I'm looking for a screen around the 8" mark.

I would be really grateful with your suggestions. I don't care about note taking. What I'm looking for: good e-book experience, and the capability of using .cbz and .cbr files for manga and black and white comics. Especially for comics and manga, it's very important that I can set the device to do a full refresh at every page turn, so I don't have ghosting from the previous page.

At the moment I'm taking a look at the Likebook Mars and the Pocketbook Inkpad 3. They seem to be the most bang for the buck options, although I'm seeing many people complain about some serious problems on the Likebook Mars after an extended period of inactivity or after firmware updates, so I'm being wary about getting one.

Anyway, it would be great to know your opinions and suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

Suggest you also look at the Boox Nova 2 and https://tachiyomi.org

For example when I had a Kindle/Pocketbook, every time there was a new issue of an active manga I had to side load it and often convert it. With Tachiyomi, new chapters of series you've bookmarked are pushed to your device automatically.

My son reads manga for a few hours every day on his older Nova Pro, and is able to manage everything himself (he's 9).

I've got the Nova 2. I think 8" is a good size for manga / graphic novels. Manga is fine on a 6" too but it's too small for graphic novels.

If side loading instead of using the extensions on Tachiyomi, the built in Boox reader is very good for cbz/r.
