Calibre Content Server
Only the Source Library needs to run CCS, A standard Web Browser is used at the user end to Retrieve Books. The user simply enters the URL (or IP) and port of the host Calibre eg. 192.168.0.17:8080 (for local LAN users).. Things get trickyier as router port forwarding is needed for outside access. There are Copyright issues you must pay attention to. Public Domain and your own works are all that is permitted by laws. All else is considered 'aiding Piracy' ( ![]() |

There is no restriction on what Viewer you use after download.
Calibres viewer can be used to open ANY epub, not just the one in the local library. You could use Acrobat for PDF... The task is GETTING the book to your computer from 'central'. The content server handles that. |

Quote:
If the user can drop a book into the Calibre Auto-Add folder from remote (and Calibre is running), the book would be added (without the fine tuned Metadata a human adds) |

The best way I can think of to get what the op wants is to modify a get books plugin like the mobileread plugin that uses opds to get books and point it at his server. So he can add his main calibre install as a store.
I have to say a generic opds store plugin where you can put in a opds server address is something that people would like. |
