iRex Technology Donates Five iLiad readers to OpenIliad.com

From OpenIliad.com:

iRex has announced that they plan to donate a number of refurbished iLiad's to OpenIliad.com. I am very impressed with iRex and their initiative to support the development community. This, in addition to their planned release of the iLiad code shows that the iLiad is not a dead platform, and will live on with updates and feature improvements from the community.

Once the devices arrive, OpenIliad will ship them out to those who have an established project and are in need of a device for testing and development. They will be loaned out on a temporary, as needed, basis.

OpenIliad.com has agreed to provide one to the OpenInkpot project, for their use in porting the OpenInkpot platform to the iLiad.

If you have a project and are in need of a device, please email me at ad...@gmail.com.

That's great.

If only Sony would do the same for OpenInkpot. (hint, hint)

Sony platform was not changed radically, so I doubt it. Sony already released source code for drivers they weren't obliged to do (several modules, I believe), so there should be no obstacles for porting to 500 or 505.

ED: Oops, I though it was the thread about source code release %)

Wow, that's impressive generosity on iRex's part. Thanks for letting us know, Adam (aside from the usual unending thanks for all the stuff you and others do for us Iliad-users ).

Cheers,
Marc

Pretty Generous off them.

It shows that at least SOMEONE there realises that they own a lot of the popularity of the Iliad to the developer community, who have made the Iliad much more open and usable then iRex was able to.

Excellent news! I can't wait to see what the OpenInkPot folks do with it.
