Factory reset and removal of all changes

Hi, some time ago I used a KoboRoot.tgz file from the forum that was to amend Polish hyphening. It worked quite fine, but I think it removed the hyphening from English books (or something like that, I don't remember the actual thing). Anyway, I decided to go back to default settings and did the factory reset (in Kobo settings). Right now, I don't see EPUB books hyphenated although I added hyphens in Hyphenate This! unless I turn on justification.

Is it the way it is supposed to be or is it possible that the KoboRoot.tgz settings were not erased after the reset?

There may have been a firmware bug like that, I don't remember clearly because I don't use hyphenation myself.

A factory reset will erase any and all changes made by KoboRoot.tgz unless some modder turned evil and installed the mod to your recovery partition too.

If you're referring to my mod which exposes the hyphenation files to the user partition so you can edit/replace/rename the hyphenation dics via USB... it obviously does not survive a factory reset; nor do you need one, if you lost the original dic files you can just extract them from the Kobo firmwareupdate tgz.

In ePubs, hyphenation only works on fully-justified or centred text (regardless of the position of the Justification button on the device). This is how the Adobe Reader software does it, and there doesn't seem to be any way to change that.

For KePubs hyphenation is completely different. The default is to only hyphenate if the Justification button is set to full justification (regardless of the alignment of the text itself), but it is possible to force hyphenation of left-justified text either by editing the book's stylesheet, or to change the default with a firmware patch.
