Help, please paragraphs are cut
Hello.
I do not know if this post has already been discussed and resolved, if so I apologize. I am having problems with calibre when converting files from pdf. All ebooks come out with paragraphs cut into phrases. I put a photo attached. I have calibre version 1.38 and it passed in all files creates. I make the initial file as doc or docx and converted in pdf with BullZip printer, and the result is normal, all paragraphs are fine. I add it to calibre and when I converted it into epub or any other format I get wrong. I have not changed any settings, leave everything as is the default. I tried to do it with the portable version of calibre and occurs the same. I have also tried creating the pdf file with a different program and nothing. The office I use is 2013, but I've redone with openoffice and pdf creator included and again the result is wrong when i try to converter in calibre. Can you help me please? And by the way, can you tell me whether to upgrade the calibre added columns created are maintained? Thank you. |

I'm a bit confused. You mention making a PDF from a Word document and then converting that to an epub.
Why not go directly from the document to an epub in calibre? |

As to the second question about preserving the columns added to upgrade the caliber, can you tell me if they are kept? ![]() Thanks again. ![]() |

Calibre does work. Don't say it doesn't work without saying why it doesn't work.
If you want to go PDF > ePub, you have to A/B compart and hand fix any errors you find. That's all the help you'll get if you insist on doing it the hardest way possible. |

I'm not sure which second question you're referring to - if you mean are custom columns, preferences and libraries retained when you upgrade to a later version? My experience over ~3 years and 100+ upgrades is that all data is always retained. BR |

For most cases, calibre only updates you preferences when a NEW feature requires it. In a very few cases, some SETTINGS get glitched IMHO Keep a backup of you Configuration folder (Preferences: Miscellaneous:click the button. Backup All files and folders there. You will NOT always be able to reuse (restore) All files, but in many cases someone here can suggest which SINGLE file to restore |

The message roughly says: No convertible formats available. You need to use a Word compatible editor and save to a format that Calibre can use. ![]() ![]() |

When converting from one format to another it's usually better to have the least number steps as possible - one-step is usually the best. BR |

If you dont have a version of Word that supports DOCX you could always try some of the online conversion sites; http://www.zamzar.com/ might help.

I assume that means MS Office 2013 Perhaps the OP has the default save type as Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) - in which case they need to do a File->Save As and select Word Document (*.docx) as the file type. BR |
