The clippings file I think is just created for the actual PaperWhite. On one of the pages of my collections there is a file labeled "my clippings." Usually it's near the last page (4 or 5). Since it refers to books on the physical ereader I don't think it connects up to the cloud. Just the book as it is stored on the ereader.

"My Clippings.txt" is created only for the actual Kindle ereader you create notes on, every time you create a note/highlight/bookmark, this info gets added to the end of that file. All this info is also backed up on Amazon (and used on your devices) as info about the book itself, assuming th ebook is from Amazon or you used send-to-kindle. You can find it in the "documents" folder on your Kindle. (I don't think it is created for the Kindle apps, but I cannot be sure as I have't used any of them very much.) |

No this file is not backed up anywhere, and if you reset the device you will lose it and all it's contents. I would suggest you back it up periodically on your computer. This is a lesson I learned the hard way. Now I move my clippings file with me from device to device when I upgrade my eink devices.
