samsung galaxy s3

Greetings,
I'm new to this forum but not new to Calibre, Here is my problem, I use 2 different computers with my mobile device. My work computer is running win 7 64 bit and sees my S3 with out an issue. My computer at home is running win XP and even with the very newest version of Calibre it will not see the Samsung Galaxy S3. I just wanted to know if it was a windows problem or am I doing something wrong?

The error message gives a hint to the problem - MTP is Media Transfer Protocol, my understanding is that its used by calibre when communicating with mobile devices - not sure if its only used for wireless comms or also comms via the S3's micro USB port. If you have a suitable cable try the latter - some phones have the cable is an optional extra - <sigh>.

Apparently MTP is defective on XP

Its as windows xp problem try to look for an app for your s3 that can change the way XP detects your phone from Mtp to UMS that should help or use calibre companion or calibre sync app to connect your device wirelessly to calibre.
