ePub book category

My book download from the iBookstore displays the correct category (self-improvement) in the iBooks reader.

But, when I drag the original ePub file from my desktop to iBooks, the category is incorrect. It displays 'anam*cara' the first listed subject as the book category.

Is there a way to correct this on my local ePub file?

That's because that's what the EPUB says the category/subject is:

Change that and you should be good to go.

Dragging my original ePub file into iBooks creates an iTunesMetadata.plist file.

I didn't see a category by name listed, but I did change the following 'genre' string to Self-Improvement, and that worked.
