Just curious of the last time anyone here has purchased a book in hardcover or paperback? Just curious.. "curiosity killed the cat" .. Last edited by MrDoug; 05-31-2013 at 10:14 PM. |

I haven't purchased a oldfashioned book since before I started using a ereader, which is about 1.5 years now.

I purchased three books last Saturday. Two paperbacks from the 1970's and a hard cover from the 1950s. I have purchased about 15 print books since the start of the year. The last ebook I bought was in February, and I have bought 3 ebooks over the past year. Most of my ereading is from the library, subscriptions, and public domain works.

Have still had to buy books for university - none of which ever went to university because they are too heavy! I am going to pick courses which use ebooks in future. I have hundreds of books, nowhere to put them.

My reading records show that I last purchased books in May 2012. One was paperback (Saburo Sakai, Samurai! The Unforgettable Saga of Japan's Greatest Fighter Pilot), and one, never published in the US (Alex Dryden, Death in Siberia), was an eBook. I'm mostly through a truly great page turner that may be the longest one-volume book I've ever read. It's The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York by Robert Caro. Pulitzer Prize, 1975. No eBook available. Even though I still read paper books with no annoyance, this one is so heavy -- it's impossible to hold standing up on the subway -- that I would pay for the eBook. If by some miracle Mr. Caro is reading this, here's my message: Despite being an incredibly cheap library-borrowing you know what, I would gladly pay for the eBook director's cut described here: http://marginalrevolution.com/margin...bert-caro.html |

Going by your topic, the last time I bought a book was when I bought April's Star Trek eBook. Now if you want your topic to match your question, then you'll need to get a moderator to change the word Book to pBook as Book refers to eBooks too as eBooks are books. |

Read a library book a couple months ago. I'll still read paper books I'm not that picky. Have purchased a few too about a month ago.

I just ordered a book for one of my kids today. It was a favorite when I was a kid but I didn't see it at the library.

Oh I bought a hardcover cookbook the other day too. Sometimes I get them to read on my iPad, but this one I decided to get in paper form. I really strongly prefer reading on an e-reader though, so other than books for my kids (particularly the younger one as the older one mainly uses an e-reader too), or a reference type book like a cookbook, I wouldn't get a paper book.

Three cookbooks in the past month. While cookbooks are starting to show up as ebooks, some of the older ones still have been converted.

There are magazines that are obtained through the bookstore. I sometimes buy digital art magazines. |

I'm a cheapskate - I got several pbooks for fifty cents each at our library's book sale a couple of months ago. Also, at Comicon here a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled into these guys: http://science-fiction-outreach.org/, picked up a couple of paperbacks, and made a donation if that counts as a purchase.

I still have to purchase some paperbooks for college. I feel sad every time though.
