What, only Amazon ?
There used to be a wider range of freebies etc... on offer here in my early days of discovering the joys of ereading .............
Has Amazon bought 'em all up so they can control the free market too ? ![]() |

The change in Amazon's and B&N's affiliate program has affected freebie advertizing and promotion. Few blogs and websites list them anymore.

Have you tried searching for the posted Amazon freebies at other stores? Often Sony, Kobo or Smashwords will have them as well (and B&N too I imagine, but I never check there). I always keep 4 store tabs open (Kobo, Sony, AmazonCA and Smashwords) and check all freebies in each store (copy/paste is your friend
![]() When I have time, I do post if I can find them at other sites, but I don't generally bother if it's too long after the original freebie post. I assumed that people would have checked their preferred stores long before they got to my post. Goes to show a person shouldn't assume. ![]() Last edited by sqdancer; 05-19-2013 at 07:52 PM. |

If it's something I'm interested in I check for it at B&N -- and post here if it qualifies. I just find B&N easier. But Amazon does seem to be more aggressive with pricing.

Many smaller publishers use KDP at Amazon (others have locked in to B&N via PubIt) and must be exclusive to Amazon in order to offer books for free.
That said, the number of freebies has greatly reduced after Amazon started confiscating an entire month's earnings from any affiliate that had "too many" referrals that purchased free books. This dried up promotions and then dried up actual free books. Christianbook stopped letting you download any free books a few months back, too (you can read online or in their app only, for free books). |

I think part of the problem is that folks here are no longer following the other resources for free books (other than Amazon).
Sad! |

I also find that Sony and B&N are really slow at price matching so if there's a publisher price reduction Amazon puts it down quickly Sony and B&N can be days if not a week later.

Discounted Kobo ebooks
I subscribe to BookBub http://www.bookbub.com/home/ and most days I receive links to a couple of Kobo or Smashwords ebooks discounted to between 99 cents and $3.99. Some are not available in Australia, and often there is nothing I am interested in, but I have bought a few books using their links.
(BookBub will also notify you of bargains for Kindle, etc if that is what you are interested in.) |
