Dictionary in ebook
Dear All,
I'm a proud owner of Samsung galaxy Tab10.1 (P7500). Off lately , I've started reading from my Tab, have even downloaded my novels which I perticularlly enjoy reading in my tablet. I however need some assistance regarding a general issue which I believe will be sorted out with your help. ISSUE:- well, during reading, I come a cross many words which I'm unaware of and as a result of which I need to frequently check dictionary. However, the only method available in the default reader ( using EPub) is the option of long pressing a word> search> Google search/ Wikipedia/Google translate. The issue with the above mentioned options are 1. You need to be continuously online to get the solution. 2. You don't have a one touch solution. 3. One might go to an e-dicitionary downloaded saperately in your computer/tab to view the meaning. RESULT:- the process becomes really elongated and you tend to loose a rythem of reading. REQUIREMENT:- Recently, my friend has bought a latest MacBook air with a built-in dictionary which enables you to get the meaning right there on selecting the word. Would there be any possibility or dictionary patch in android default reader so that the meaning of a word can be viewed there itself.( keeping other options as same). Anticipating a positive response at the earliest. Regards all. |

The "Feedback" forum is for giving feedback about MR, not for asking technical questions. Moved to the Android forum.

Your best bet would be to use a reading app which has a built-in dictionary as, for example, the Kindle app does. No big deal to convert your ePub books to Kindle format.

FBReader, Moon+ Reader, Mantano support offline dictionaries with epub format books. Other apps are listed here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7092 And Wikipedia has a great comparison chart of the different features of most of the Android ereader apps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...eader_software |
