Server not showing newspapers
Hi!
I am downloading some newspapers daily with a cron that has essentially the following functionality: ebook-convert $RECIPE $NEWSPAPER.mobi calibredb add $NEWSPAPER.mobi It works, because $NEWSPAPER shows up in the calibre GUI and goes by email to my kindle, quite fine and readable! BUT: when I run calibre-server and look at the contents of my library the books are there but the newspapers that show up in the GUI and on the Kindle do not appear! In fact the list of newspapers is a mess! There are some outdated newspaper editions (some of the earlier ones that were the result of some failed tests), some newspaper names that look like section headings (politics, USA, middle east). Does this sound familiar to anyone, seen this problem before? Any ideas what's going on? |

Since I don't know what I cron is, you may be miles ahead of me. But just to relate how I do it:
I've been downloading 5-6 newspapers every morning, for about a year, using the regular Calibre interface, but I don't schedule them. Or, most precisely, I scheduled them for automatic download at the maximum interval (999 days). Before breakfast, I right-click on Fetch News, and select Download All Scheduled News Sources. Maybe this isn't the most efficient way to use the Calibre news feature, but works consistently for me. |

Probably you should ask over on the Calibre forum.

Cron is software that runs a script at specified intervals of time and date. Could be every hour, or every 4 hours, or every morning at 3am, or at 5:43 on April 3 every year, and so on. I am doing the downloads using the commands in a script, which works perfectly. What's not working is being able to access the calibre library on my computer remotely with a browser and see the newspapers show up on the interface that calibre-server presents. |
