Not much again today.

Here's a 60 page novella that has three planted reviews but has many quoted reviews in the sample from PW, LJ, Kirkus and Konrath. Published by a mid sized publisher. Author ( a trial attorney) is quite prolific. Sample seems ok.

Attorney Prey (Nick Teffinger Thriller) by R.J. Jagger
http://www.amazon.com/Attorney-Prey-...9345487&sr=1-1

Quote:
In this riveting novella from acclaimed author R.J. Jagger, Denver homicide detective Nick Teffinger spirals into the addictive maze of a beautiful young criminal defense attorney who has murder on her mind.

Teenage zombie novel by a New Zealander. Self pubbed. Sample first.

The Undying Apathy Of Imogen Shroud by Ben White
http://www.amazon.com/Undying-Apathy...346585&sr=1-12

Quote:
Imogen Shroud is the unhappiest seventeen year-old in all of existence. The world offers her nothing, and so she offers nothing to the world. Given the choice she'd just lie in bed all day every day, a stack of books beside her, locked safely away from the uncaring outside.

But reality intrudes on even the most sedentary life. Imogen is forced out of her room and halfway across the city, to the ultra-modern Phoenix Convention Centre and the comic convention it hosts. On its own this would be bad enough, but strange weather is blowing in, bringing with it death--and undeath.

Dealing with depression is difficult. So is dealing with the undead. Dealing with both? Well, sometimes unlife can surprise you...

Author claims to have been published by Macmillan and Penguin before moving to Amazon. He gives us two mystery and adventure titles today.

THE POPPY BROKER by Thomas Kirkwood
http://www.amazon.com/THE-POPPY-BROK...9347906&sr=1-5

Quote:
From the pink cliffs of Brittany to the painted wagons of Sicily, from the slums of Paris to the medieval estates of Europe, this romantic adventure moves at breakneck speed through a land of crime, love and deception. The kidnapping of beautiful French actress, Chantal Armand, forms the hub of a wheel around which art and science, sacrifice and arrogance, love and hate spin at a dizzying pace. The Poppy Broker leads us into the world of Tommaso Scalzone, a man as brilliant as he is glacial; a man who has masterminded a plot to associate Al Qaeda with the Mafia. His hunger for Chantal spawns an unforgettable cast of characters ─ Nadja, a sexy teenage runaway; Don Greco, a Mafia boss with a neck like a stack of tires; and Jean-François, an art collector whose love for Chantal leads him on a relentless but seemingly doomed quest to rescue her …

Lacking Virtues

Quote:
Steven LeConte has all the qualities that propel a young man to success. He is bright, handsome, charming . . . the list is long. Yet, at age 27, this scion of a prominent Connecticut family is teaching tennis in Paris. His journalistic aspirations have produced a few dazzling leads but not a single completed article. If he can take pride in one achievement, which he does not, it is the prodigious number of girls he has coaxed from the tennis club into his bed. A small inheritance from his aunt is nearly exhausted; he faces an uncertain future. As if to highlight his professional shortcomings, he has befriended his neighbor, Sophie Marx, the retired Paris bureau chief of the New York Times. In contrast to his own lack of output, her freelance articles appear at a dizzy pace in the Western world’s best newspapers and magazines. {cont}

Do you remember the femmebots from The Bionic Woman? Not related but you get the idea in this sci-fi self pubbed title.

The Femmebots Revolt by B. Cameron Lee
http://www.amazon.com/The-Femmebots-...9350590&sr=1-1

Quote:
Get set for a Sci-fi crime thriller that takes you on a roller coaster ride through a city of the future, as Detective Mike Deacon and his femmebot, Charmaine, try to unravel a very unusual murder, disappearing femmebots and other seemingly unconnected mysterious events.
This is the future and some people prefer loyalty, even if they have to buy it.
Would you have an Android as a companion/Lover?
Could you deal with the discrimination?

Femmebots are holding mass demonstrations and withholding sexual favours from their owners in an attempt to get some form of recognition as entities from the World Council. And some are going missing. {cont...}

Evidently popular in Germany (mentioned by the author everywhere) this mystery/thriller title has been translated into English. Free today.

Killing is easy (Tony Braun Thriller 1) by B.C. Schiller (Author), Colin McCullough (Translator)
http://www.amazon.com/Killing-easy-B...9351389&sr=1-1

Quote:
In Prague, in Central Europe, a businessman is brutally murdered. All the leads point to Linz, Austria, to a highly influential but shady company.
Is the psychopathic owner of the company implicated in the murder and what do the photos of his sister show?
And what personal interest does the head of an advertising agency, Anna Lange, have in the case in which her father is deeply involved?
In his first case, Chief Inspector Tony Braun, has to solve brutal murders and hunt a murderer from Central Europe to Spain; a murderer who knows only one motive: revenge.
Before coming to the final showdown in a monastery on the Spanish Island of Majorca, the killer carries out yet another bloody murder ritual without ever revealing his identity.
Who is this mysterious killer? When Anna Lange and Tony Braun unravel the mystery, it is already too late to stop this killing machine. For everything in life has its price...
