As indicated in another thread, my KPW2 is bricked. How can I completely deplete/discharge the battery?

The Kindles have a battery management chip that should prevent over-discharge. You do not mention what you intend to achieve - but if you just want to remove power, remove the battery. | |

I want this bricked devide to run out of battery juice and therefore I can do a complete restart of the device (after charging it). Any ways now with this explanation?

I have heard that if you plug an ereader into the USB port of a laptop computer when the laptop is *turned off*, that it will drain the ereader battery. I've never done it, so I can't be sure. And I know my laptop has *one* (out of four) USB ports that's "always on", so you need to verify if yours has one or not, too. |

Might work, if the Kindle leaves its USB port powered while shutdown. Not good for battery life though, so just consider prying it open and removing the battery for a minute or two. - - - - Take pictures as you go, we may need them for our information collection here. |
