I had an email 22 Dec and a reminder today. not a huge length of time I must say especially over the holiday period. But it is a very easy process, took me about a minute.

Essentially, yes. When you go to their bookstore you'll be at Kobo.

WH Smith signed an agreement with Kobo that in future (was it for 10 years? I can't remember now) they'll get a sales commission from all Kobo books purchased from someone who resides in the U.K., regardless of whether that sale came from the WH Smith website or the customer went directly to Kobo.com.

im not all that pleased as I also got the email and following the link they transferred most of my library but said that Kobo were unable to accept some of my books.

Reason was it could be because of publishing rights and/or geographical restrictions or Audiobooks (which I had none) as Kobo does not support them. 3 of the books were the Terry Brooks Armegeddons Children/Elves of Cintra and The Gypsy Morph. WH Smiths said on their website that if you couldnt transfer the books to Kobo to make sure they were downloaded to ADE. Take it from that if I ever have a problem with ADE I would have to repurchase the books |

I'm sure that if you have problems with ADE in the future, someone here will be able to point you in the right direction so you can strip the DRM and continue to enjoy the book you purchased. (Google "Apprentice Alf" for instructions and Calibre plugins to help you.)

Thanks Suzanna have already done that and backed them up, but think its wrong that they are available in WH Smiths library but cannot be stored in Kobo

One of my books wasn't available either - and it is such a popular book - Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I can only assume that the editions must be different. Anyway, I have safely stored it in calibre.

I suspect it's because my Kobo account is in the US and my WH Smith account was in the UK, but all 14 of my WH Smith ebooks did not transfer. They were all books that are unavailable in the US.

I bought it well over a year ago. And I have an epub copy in ADE and calibre. It is purely the kepub (kobo'd epub) that I can't access. I just thought it was a bit strange given it has been in the bestseller list for months.

No bookstore can guarantee to keep your books for your forever. Once you've bought the book, keeping it safely backed up is your responsibility.
