Multiple kindles?

Sorry, never had an ereader before, so I'm not familiar with this. If I'm buying two Kindles (one for me, one for my wife), can I register both kindles under the same account? (e.g. we can share books that I've bought from the kindle store). Or do we need to create separate accounts and are unable to share books we've purchased? If we are able to share the books, can they only be on one ereader at a time?

Yes, you can have as many Kindles (and apps) as you want registered to the same account. Most books can be on up to 6 devices or apps at the same time. When you remove a book from one device (and sync), the license is freed up.
