Request: OverDrive Cover Support

Could the OverDrive service be added to Calibre as a source for book covers?

I'd assume it's possible, but remain unsure if there's any legal entanglements involved. I recently discovered that my local libraries provide somewhat high quality covers for their ebooks and thought it would make a nice addition to Calibre's offerings. Thanks in advance!

Okay, even I'm annoyed with myself after having found a few topics already written on this subject...

So maybe I can rephrase my question to: Are there any planned Calibre updates to support downloading OverDrive covers again after its most recent overhaul?

No plans that I'm aware of, but ldolse's the one who wrote the overdrive plugin, so he's much better positioned to say.

I've been waiting to see if Overdrive fixed their search when the added Kindle support, and the sad news is they didn't

I've got to rewrite the Overdrive plugin to work with the new clunkier search system, will try to get that done in the next week or so.
